Colby Thomason - CrossFit Athlete

I was born in California, but raised in Oregon. I attended the University of Oregon where I got my bachelors degree, and commissioned into the Army as an Officer. The military is what brought me to Oklahoma. I played sports my whole life which is where my competitive drive comes from. In 2015, a soldier of mine said I would like CrossFit because of the competitive nature and the community that came with it. I ended up trying out Koda CrossFit Norman in July 2015, and ended up joining.

I was told to try a local competition called First Timers Open in August. Since I was new, I tried to sign up scaled but the coaches wouldn’t let me. So, I ended up competing in the RX division and winning it overall. Which was an awesome start to CrossFit to say the least. The following year I spent deployed, and missed a year of competing. But I came back from that deployment and went to work, and ended up qualifying for regionals in 2018. I’ve competed in The Fittest Experience (TFX) twice on teams, taking 3rd and most recently 1st in the Pro division. Currently, I am on Team Koda preparing for the first ever Semi-Finals of 2021 season.

Outside of CrossFit, I enjoy anything outdoors -  camping, hiking, shooting, or hunting.

Fun Fact – In 2019, the house I was living in had a cement living room floor, so I just put mats down and used that as a gym area, had my squat rack and everything in there!
